Project Description
Pickering Creek Audubon Center on the Eastern Shore of Chesapeake Bay had a fairly recent master site plan that called for developing new buildings and other site features. During my tenure with the National Audubon Society, I had helped them develop it. However, during the several intervening years since I had left Audubon to start my own consulting firm, they had only taken a few steps toward realizing their plan. Their Board lacked consensus on which remaining parts of it were worth funding and in what order. I worked with them to create a new strategic plan that included:
- A detailed evaluation of their current resources
- A market analysis that incorporated interviews with key stakeholders, a survey of the Center’s members and other supporters, and an assessment of competitive institutions
- A summary of the implications of all that information
- Facilitation of a strategic planning retreat and creation of a new strategic plan
