Project Description
Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center has operated a successful residential environmental education program since 1978. The leaders were interested in examining the possibility of expanding their day-use activities, especially since the region has lots of outdoor recreation tourists the site might be able to attract. I was contracted to complete a market analysis and feasibility study for a new day-use center and attendant programming. My scope of work included:
- An on-the-ground assessment of the site’s features and assets
- Interviews with key players
- An online survey of existing Eagle Bluff users and other stakeholders
- A review and assessment of competitive entities, including nearby existing day-use nature centers and other outdoor recreation destinations
- Identification of and interviews with comparable combined residential/day-use environmental learning centers elsewhere in the U.S.
- An analysis of all of the information gathered, including my assessment of its implications and my recommendations
“Our board had their retreat this past weekend . . . everyone was very impressed with the thoroughness and detail in the report.”
